Josh, how about you introduce yourself real quick and then we will get everybody else on board real fast. It was a blast to get to play with you all for. The time that we got to play so And you know the the money raised was definitely. Cherry on top of of all of that. So. What we did today is. Josh and I learned about extra life. We learned about it a while ago to be honest and but actually normally happens in November. and. Extra life. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s been around since two thousand eight they’ve raised over seventy million dollars for children’s Miracle Network they partner with one hundred and. One hundred seventy different children’s miracle network hospitals throughout North America which is really just great. It’s really benefiting kids and right now they’re also raising the funds towards the. Children’s hospitals. COVID. Nineteen Relief Fund which is really really really cool. So just fight forty million people unemployed in the US alone. So I know finances are rough for a lot of families out there, and this is a really great way to help kids. With all of this and help those families who are in that situation I have a story told at the beginning of streaming. Tell again a minute. But essentially what we did is Josh when I found out about extra tabletop appreciation month. Appreciation weekend about two weeks ago if you’re listening to this live or listening to this on. Tuesday. And we end every episode with the same thing, every single time and that is. Go, and make a positive impact on the world and so when we learned about this and we love gaming and this is about tabletop gaming doing something good for others, Josh what are we say? that. We had to be a part of this that this is a thing that we we absolutely need to be doing to have that positive impact to on the world. Yeah, absolutely. So we had like there was no way that we couldn’t do this. We we absolutely had to do this because it was it is four kids. It is for making a positive impact when for some families like things might be really dark right now. So we decided to do is we wrangled up some friends all those who introduce themselves just now. Plus Aaron. And we’ve played games for ten hours already today because it’s currently ten twenty, six in Texas and we started at one PM here in Texas. And so josh of courses in Colorado Aaron is in Florida. We came together and today through very kind donations and all the work that you’ve done sharing have already raised eight, hundred, seventy, five dollars.

You’ll hear my voice plenty. So I’ll let George taken just going to say I was glad to get To The table we. It’s a game that I’ve been wanting to play for a while. Then I haven’t played in a couple of years. So that was a blast. So George for you was term mistica. I was I was extremely excited the beginning. Good, of course, light but. I enjoyed playing. Games duplicates. Just having fun chatting. Background and doing something. Enjoyable. Suspense. Just getting hang out with everybody. It’s been a little slow and halfway busy with school starting and. Everyone going back to slightly more normal things to do normal schedules. That doesn’t always lead to a lot of time. Yeah Yeah I gotta say it was I particularly enjoyed being able to jump in here and do this I know that I. got to play a little bit of gains with Justin and with Conrad over. Memorial. Day weekend, we did some things but you know. Having not played games I mean it’s been. Awhile since I’ve had a chance to play games with George since I lived in Texas and you know just being able to to get together with folks that I don’t get to see even during normal times let alone during Kobe times and get some games in is. Always always a treat. Yeah and I have to echo everything. The said like this was just a treat to play games with all of you. To, shoot the stories. Like we would you plan for a long day right? And of course, like I’d be Amiss if I didn’t say that another part of my favorite time of the day was when I got to do this. And hit the little Pixie dust because that meant that somebody else had donated. His making a really big impact. So that was a really really wonderful moment. For me personally getting to actually hit the button I just needed to say that like that was cool. So. Yeah. So Here’s a question. If the Opportunity Arose Gel I’ll do it again. What do you think of this extra life thing? Absolutely. So I know we talked about this last year, Bruce, but during extra life in November. The the local game store here hosts a twenty four hour. They open themselves up for twenty four hours for us to come in and do a big event and. I’ll do that when it comes around in November if were able to do that safely. hopefully by November will be able to do that safely. But. You. Know we I absolutely love doing this. This is a fantastic event and I look forward to it. Always and forever. Yeah. Absolutely a my into like this is something that has been really bucket filling I had my wife will tell you this. Leading up to this today I like super knots in my stomach today and just like butterflies flying with excitement because because of what we got to do the stakes of it being for kids. Just. Really Cool. And really thankful because honestly in these times like it can be really dark for people. and to have something that gets you going like that for a good reason is just a is a good thing as a good. Humanity check to be honest. But I don’t want to keep all of you too long so Thank you, Conrad, and Justin George for sticking with us. All Day could not have done this without you. I’m just blown away by the generosity of folks You know I know that the lot of friends and family pulled together to. help us not only achieve our goal but just. Completely, shatter that goal You know I’m I’m really really pleased with with everyone who helped make this such a successful day and so I just WanNa say thank you to everyone Yeah. This this has been great and you know I’m. I’m over the Moon Right. Now I I just gotTa say how? Things have been really challenging For a variety of reasons over the past couple of weeks you know I’M I’m just I am at a loss for words with how How good this day has felt and how nice it is to to not only sit down and and play some games with some really good friends but also to have that result in some. Absolutely fantastic You know. Assistance to a really great cause with the children’s miracle. Network. yeah. Yeah and Also. We’ve had a couple of people reach out in the chat. Yes. So thank you so much. Howdy to who were saying hi in the chat and scraping y’all. Yeah, it’s been really bucket filling. So for us, we’ve talked about this on the podcast before we both work in higher education. In August is always always, always always August. There’s always. There’s always something that comes with August and so two years to all of our fellow higher education folks teachers around the world who are listening to this. Thank you for everything you’re doing these times are very different and so for us like we opened up classes on Wednesday and it is very interesting I don’t need to go into that right now but it’s very interesting. I know it’s been interesting for you. Josh and we’ve talked about that. This is honestly this going into this weekend. This was like a beacon. Of Let’s put in all of this support and all of this work to do something for good. And I am so thankful we did this. Absolutely and I will echo Bruce’s I. I gave a toast. I’m disappointed. I can’t be on the stream right now from video for technology sake but. I absolutely raise a glass to all of our fellow teachers and educators around the world because it’s an interesting time and. You know. This has been a great great break from and reminding me that of the good that there is out there in the good in the. Listeners, hearts, and in the hearts of our friends and family. So to celebrate such a fantastically successful day I had to pour myself a glass of of Whiskey and Bruce Actually on my wedding day. gave me a bottle of Irish whiskey that’s called the not to. celebrate my tying the knot and so I have some leftover and felt that it was only appropriate. To, celebrate such a successful day with with a nice glass from from that bottle. So thank you, Bruce for my spirit’s for this evening’s recording day not a an for those curious also poured myself a glass of Bourbon. Yes because we both really like beverages. We’ve really covered that on the podcast, but yet we both like them. We’re aficionados enthusiasts I used to work in the wine industry side note I have a bottle of angles envy because. Honestly. Angels Envy. What’s going on children’s Miracle Network with that I got I gotTa tell the story I until at the start of the Stream Josh. Also have to call you out for your terrible puns but in this situation, I’ll give it a pass the. The Message behind it and listeners. So earlier, this week I was on campus for some things.

And I ran into a colleagues like what are you doing this weekend? It’s Oldham and he’s a couple of kids. and. He was telling me how. Eggs him when I was talking about what I was benefiting the mclane children’s Hospital here in Bryan College station. He told me that he’d actually use the facility. and. So when you’re signing up with extra life, if you want to join our team and just help raise funds great ’cause you can do that. Click on the link join team. Same place you can donate or share the donate link. But. He told me that he went there because one of the kids needed it sadly. You told me that. Sadly, a lot of kids. That’s the last place will ever be and. He told me how he would go on. Coffee to step out of the room real quick ’cause. He’s like you’re not sleeping when you’re there and he would go to the cafeteria get some coffee. Meet some families, hear their stories, and then some of them he wouldn’t see them again. For safety reasons. And he told me how one time because he was there for several days how one time his daughter flatlined in front of them And without skipping a beat. The doctors nurses everybody came in was almost like in silence. And how they didn’t need to say anything to each other they knew exactly what to do. They knew exactly how to help and the did. And they saved his daughter’s life. He told me there was this moment where he was watching I didn’t talk about this earlier but man I’m actually getting any. Moment, he was standing there and. He recognized that this doctor. Who actually by the way when I was in high school, I used to work in a volunteer ambulance corps, and so I had to perform CPR deals, kinds of things. which I don’t know that I’ve ever told you ge- now, and so I’ve had I’ve had to perform CPR have had to be the person doing compressions of had to be the person doing the bag. and. He recognized that essentially the doctor that was standing there squeezing the bag. And counting. Was the only thing for his daughter. And that those actions and the actions of those other doctors and they’re phenomenal attitude that they brought into every interaction. Saved his daughter’s life and she’s been super recovered in super great since then. And so that was just Oh, my God hit me hard the other day. And that’s part of why this was such a beacon and it was so nice to hit that button. To share that we’re able to help support these wonderful people who are doing an amazing amazing job and so thank you like this is the least we do. Use Our platform, and spend these ten hours doing this. So. Yeah. Yeah that’s Joshua had to just talking about that. No absolutely, and thank you for for sharing that Bruce. I think that’s It is. You know it’s always nice for us to raise money doing at right. We spent ten hours playing ball games and raising money. You know we got to do the thing. We love more than anything in the world really and. Did that for ten hours and people paid us to do that. But what really that that money goes to support our people who are spending ten hour saving people’s lives or more right Yup in a day’s work and so. It is humbling to have that reminder of the impact that that these hospitals have and so for for listeners who are interested the the money that was raised and supported to my in addition to the McLean Joe. Hospital money also went today to the Colorado Children’s hospital I blanked on the name of that hospital at the start of our stream today. Twenty to give a shout out to those folks who are doing really really great things and and not only Colorado, springs where I’m at but also in Denver and across Colorado and so. You know it is really really amazing. The the work that these folks do and it is. Less than the least of what we can do to support them, and in this know really just having fun with friends and it is a blessing that we have the supporters that we do who are willing to. Give us money to to play games so that we can raise money for such a worthy cost. Yeah, and also besides are phenomenal supporters. Thank you. That we have friends that will do it with us, right? Absolutely. Yeah absolutely and I know we had to be narrow in who we asked just because it was there was a cap on being able to do this online and who we could actually stream a game with we would have loved to have multiple tables of multiple tables of multiple tables, and hopefully when we get past all these things you can come and join us and play with us because we love that.

He had this jain norm, ass-. Captain, America Shield. With this weird little remote in it. In the middle. And that is in America, shield and then this white remote with angel. Wings. I was like what is that? He’s like this is extra life. and. So Michael for like eight up teen years has been participating in extra life. Giving like raising thousands of dollars a year he usually goes to their tabletop appreciation like he’s the one who helped me learn about this he went to their table top appreciation night. Or weekend and was raising money by going around playing criminal all these things he actually as two campaigns one that’s benefiting children’s Hospital in Maine and another one. Team captain benefiting another children’s Hospital in Kansas. Phenomenal. Phenomenal. Human great great person. Great friend. And also, Josh wants you to know that four stream. He’s the one who actually coded. The API is for us to be able to show our donations coming in. That’s fantastic. Yeah. So, thank you, Michael. Salud for you to. Do everything you have done over the years. He’d. So if you raise over a thousand dollars a year, they actually send you a metal. And he has all but one of his medals because he’s given one of them away to a kid who wanted one one time when he met them in the hospital. And so salud tears to all that. Thank you for everything. So I talked about this while we were streaming that. The first time I’ve played terroristic. It wasn’t as great of a experience for me just because I was playing it with strangers in a very high stress situation. So I was playing it online with people who knew the game very well, and I did not and so learning it was very difficult. This was. So much more enjoyable. You know just getting to play it with friends and and having my time to make decisions in those types of things. Wow. I. Now stand why that game is is so beloved by many people a fantastic but. Downforce my first time playing down forces well, and that was also. Absolutely fantastic to get my hands on and to play and really enjoyed. Getting, experienced that a little bit. Yes Oh. Yeah. Keep going Bruce what we’re what were your your highlights yes. So quick recap for everybody we started playing. We kicked everything off gave a lay the ground. We had a plan and then it changed Illinois a little bit. So we played two games of downforce one from the base map one from wild ride expansion. We term. We had scrapped. Them says something’s because we got real deep in terms of y’all. Does Great. I really enjoyed it. Then what are we play? We played? Out through that, we rolling Rolling Realms, rolling realms where some of you joined us live. Thank you for doing that. Lafon Josh teach that. So rolling realms by Stone Meyer Games on their website, and then we played a couple of games of four sale had some technical difficulties happened in there. For several people, we timed out facebook for facebook lives by the way eight hours. and. Then we wrapped up with seven wonders which actually if you like is. For the day. Yeah. I really enjoyed term mistica. I’m like you in that my first game of it I was learning and talked about this in the Stream was going the board Game Geek, closing ceremony slow leading up to them on the last day of my first BG on which I was like fried because we played games for like three days straight. So I didn’t really learn it then but every time I’ve now gotten back through boarding marina this is the second time. Just really like it but I gotta say that my highlight though one is bidding on cars during downforce. Like right from the beginning really. Yeah. I really don’t get me wrong I loved interacting with all of you live during rolling rooms like loved it. But I came into today and into the stream like it’s GonNa Crash. How am I going to be able to do the things to give you a good experience to justify like to justify what we’re doing and to support these wonderful doctors and nurses and we came in and it was five of you playing a game which isn’t like four or five of us. And we started playing and it just kind of clicked for me. So also that. And it was just felt really good and it was super cutthroat like super, cutthroats? and. I’d never played any of the new maps for downforce. So that was a lot of fun. So that I think just got me started on such a high that it’s hard for me to look the other way to be honest. Yeah I can understand that I think it was really really nice to get into a game and just I agree with you thousand percent when we started the stream I had butterflies in my stomach, my heart rate was. Not at a healthy pace you know all of the nerves and anxiety and the second we got to playing. downforce and really got into the game and started to to mess around with it. It just. It is so relaxing and so comfortable and it’s the thing that reminds me always about why I love a game. It’s the joy of playing games. Right? Is that the rest of your cares and worries slip away. Yeah It’s The impact. The Games can have and Josh I know you and I have some exciting news for another time to talk about that because that’s been on our minds a lot lately. But with all these things being said. WHAT NEXT What is next That’s great. A great great question. Yeah so These times. Yeah. I know it’s weird right? Like we had Gen con We we did learn a lot of cool games coming out.

There’s a lot of games coming out. We did this amazing thing. Today and I’m so thankful for all of y’all. Support. So the question is actually what next in terms of One of the things I’ve heard from people is well, I can’t really game in the time we have right now. Do you think based based on what we’ve been saying Josh is that valid statement anymore? Look I understand I, Miss Gaming at a table. More than anything and. It is a blast to sit around a table and and see my friends but. I’ve been saying this since right since April. that. This is. An experience that. You know we can have in this in this era that we can have in this. Time is to be able to reconnect with people who We may not get to play games with all that often right I in an average year, get to play Games with Bruce maybe two times a year. and. We’ve gotten to play games, let six or seven times this year because we’ve just connected to to play Games online. This is a completely viable option I think that this is. While I wait and anxiously await the return of live gaming in a larger format. I think this is. This is the way we’re GONNA, play it, and this is the way we’re going to do it, and it’s what makes it safer everyone and it makes. US, able to. You know engage in this hobby. Yeah in a way that we just can’t do. At this time I agree I absolutely agree and for listeners listening of like Josh’s voice go where for some reason George who introduced himself before keeps hopping back into the chat. Just, put that out there. So I think it’s just messing up the Internet connection plus we’ve been going for a long time today but yeah I. Josh One, hundred percent. In that. You and I wouldn’t normally get to play right except it beatty. Except if we traveled. And so this is really shown like feelings today that I wouldn’t. Normally only have. Honestly at a convention type thing. where I’m able to sit with y’all for a long time and then like when you and I played. Workshop and we were just sitting and talking about las stuff. I think. That’s kind of the feelings I got from the stuff today of that plus all the amazing things. So listeners at the time of this recording on. On. The Saturday the twenty second at ten, fifty six we’ve currently raised eight hundred and ninety five dollars for children’s Miracle Network. For extra lives tabletop appreciation weekend. I’m thankful that we have all the technology things. And that we’re able to do this and that we’re able to keep playing games and we’re able to able to be streaming this on my computer, and that Kovic has to learn broadcasting software. And been able to interact with some of you on the chat. So yeah. So Josh, kind of closing things from you. While we celebrate day.
